CRICKET & THE 2:19 is a folk-rock trio based out of Echo Park, Los Angeles, California.
Cricket DeManuel is the band's singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist. At one time she was a solo performer. But she got lonely playing music all by herself. So, she started a band and named it CRICKET & THE 2:19, referencing one of her favorite artists, Nina Simone. Her other influences include Jonathan Richman, John Cale and Holly Golightly. Her songs are insightful and thoughtful and tend to draw on her life's experience. Cricket grew up in Toronto, Canada, and has spent time as a life model, shoe designer, traveling carny and painter. Music has always been her number one passion and she is eager to share with neat, like-minded people.
5-Track is the electric guitar player of the group. He has spent time in Vermont and in Seattle, Washington, playing with bands ranging in style from funk to roots to free-jazz. He has accompanied experimental dance performances, and he has jammed it out rocknroll-style in the middle of the street at midnight. He is also a songwriter and he continues to play in several bands around the United States.
Simon Thomsen is the drummer. It would appear that there is nothing he cannot do. And he has great hair. He has toured for years with Scrap Arts Music (something like Stomp with outsider junk sculpture) and has also played everything from Pink Floyd to Afrobeat. We built him out of nanobots to conform to our specifications.
Jym "The Snake" Fahey is harpman. by accident or design he has worked with the likes of koko taylor, hot tuna, mike mccready, jules broussard, double trouble, johnnie johnson, joan osbourne, pat dinizio, bill champlin and various members of the allman brothers, living colour, the roots, kid rock’s band and the david letterman band, among others and has been featured as part of the jimi hendrix all-star tribute band assembled by the hendrix estate he is currently auditioning hand percussionists.
The group sometimes has hot chicks on hand percussion.
CRICKET & THE 2:19 will soon be recording their first EP, to be followed by touring.
